Caughey-Taylor Nature Trails

The Caughey-Taylor Nature Preserve has a diverse set of trails. On the south side of the road the trail circles the tidal Sam Orr Pond. The Berry Point Trail continues out along the shore to Berry Point. Berry Point overlooks Birch Bay and the much larger Passamaquoddy Bay.

The main trail on the north side of the road climbs through some big cliffs on the way to the peak of Chickahominy Mountain. A side trail takes you to a wetlands that is formed by a beaver dam on Taggarts Brook. The trail crosses the stream and continues around the edge of the wetland with several lookouts looking across the pond and bog at Chickahominy Peak.
